Tipton-Rosemark Academy senior Ashton Needham signed a national letter of intent  last Wednesday to continue her softball career at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.

"Needham is a great pickup for us because she's an overall athlete," Northwest assistant coach Carie Dever Boaz said.

"She'll add a lot of offense for us and is a finesse pitcher who can keep hitters off balance. She's showed a lot of maturity and will be a great leader for us."

Needham is a pitcher and infielder for TRA who hit .464 her junior year with 10 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 34 RBIs.

She also slugged .573 and fielded .996.

In the circle, Needham posted a 1.28 ERA in 65 innings.

Needham has accumulated 101 career RBIs and struck out just seven times.

She was named all-district and all-Shelby-Metro three teams and all-region twice.
