A standout Munford High School soccer player is joining his former coach in college.

Zerick Brown, a 2019 Munford graduate, recently signed to play for the men’s soccer team at Mississippi University for Women.

Dylan Burnett is the head coach at the college. He was the head coach at Munford during Brown’s freshman and sophomore seasons.

“Zerick’s strength is his vision to see a step ahead of everyone and his smoothness on the ball,” Burnett said. “He has a high soccer IQ.”

Burnett said he had envisioned Brown as a college player when he coached him at Munford.

“He is very coachable, has a great attitude and will do whatever is asked of him. He comes from an incredible family and I had the joy of coaching his sister, Demis, for a year as well. It was a no-brainer for me to go after Zerick. He exemplifies the type of players I look to bring to MUW ... great student athletes who take academics just as serious as soccer, hard working, coachable and brings personality to the team. Obviously we will bring in skilled players, but those are all essential for me as a coach.”
