The Celebrate Munford 5K Run, Roll and Stroll is Saturday morning. 

The 20th annual Celebrate Munford 5K Run, Roll and Stroll is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, with the official start at 8 a.m. in Munford's Centennial Park.

Event Coordinator D.J. Watson noted that Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton would continue their lead role as the title sponsor of the event – their 10th year in this capacity. 

“Baptist remains a strong advocate for health in the community and a loyal supporter of this event," Watson said. "They are very much appreciated in a number of ways."

Green Meadows at Munford/Village at Green Meadows will again serve as the finish line and breakfast sponsor, treating the runners from Youth Villages to a pancake breakfast sponsored by Boy Scouts Pack 66 immediately following the race.  The public is encouraged to attend the pancake breakfast at Munford First United Methodist Church on South Tipton Street. 

Other sponsors include Walgreens-Munford, the City of Munford, Cub Scout Pack 66, Farmers Insurance-Gatlin Agency, First Citizens National Bank, Keep Tipton County Beautiful, Memphis Runners Track Club, Munford Middle School cheerleaders, Signprints and Turner Family Dentistry.

Pre-registration is available online through Aug. 16 at www.celebratemunford5k.com or www.racesonline.com.  Payments may also be mailed to Watson at 75 Ruffin Place, Munford, Tenn., 38058 and postmarked no later than Aug. 15.  The cost of pre-registration is $25, with a $2 discount for members of the Memphis Running Track Club, children ages 17 and under and senior ages 55 and over.  Registration after 7 p.m. on August 16 is $30.  

Pre-race packets and goodie bags are available for pick up from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 16 at Walgreen’s at 43 Tabb Drive in Munford.  You can also register during that time.

On raceday at 6:30 a.m. registration will open on site at Centennial Park, where pre-registrations packets can also be picked up.  

Overall winners will be awarded for male and female and masters male and female, as well as the top three in age groups 11-and-under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 plus.

Celebrate Munford 5K Run, Roll & Stroll is a function of Celebrate Munford, Inc., a 501-C3 organization that exists to promote community and to provide scholarships, grants and fund projects to better the City of Munford and its people.  This year’s Celebrate Munford 5K Run will again benefit the Munford-Tipton County Library.
