Game two between district and county rivals Brighton and Munford on Wednesday in Munford was action-packed early.

Dylan Forbes and Logan Rushing, the first two batters of the game, each singled for Brighton, which brought hot-hitting Dalton Rushing to the plate in a big spot.

A battled ensued between Munford starter Balfour Roe and Rushing. It ended when Rushing hit a homer to center on a full count, giving the Cardinals a lead they would not lose in a 4-3 win.

It was the fourth homer of the season for Rushing, a Louisville signee who also has six doubles and 15 RBIs through 17 games.

Brighton (13-4 overall, 3-1 District 13-AAA) completed a two-game sweep of Munford (8-13, 0-4) with the win to move into second place in the district standings behind Dyer County, which Brighton plays Monday and Tuesday.

The Cardinals went ahead 4-0 in the first on an RBI single by Garrison McBride, but Munford fought back with single runs in the first, fifth and sixth.

Shane Cox, Riley Bampfield, Corey Fleming, Hunter Reed, Trent Suggs and Kade Reed each had a single for Munford.

Kade Reed relieved Roe in the second inning and held Brighton's offense in check the rest of game, striking out eight and allowing just two hits over six innings.

Hunter Deering struck out four, walked four and allowed five hits over 4.1 innings to pick up the win for Brighton. Logan Rushing pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save.
