After shopping Black Friday at the large retail chains, support local small businesses on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Saturday is the fourth annual Small Business Saturday, which was created by American Express in an effort to focus on bolstering a community’s holiday economy.
According to Hunter Elam, owner of Grain Antiques in Covington, keeping it local is important to the community.
“Not only are we able to offer better service and personalized care, but the money stays in the community through the business and also the taxes that are paid back into the community,” said Elam.
Robin Porter, owner of Brighton Pharmacy, said, “The items we sell, we’ve purchased those especially with the community in mind, so that your gift giving and decorating needs are met here in Tipton County. You don’t have to drive all the way into Memphis.”
