It’s birthday time; time for a beautiful lady’s big day! It was on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Bright Hill M.B. Church, Jamestown community, with pastor and first lady Gary Sanders who stopped by with loads of their warmest wishes for member Mary Stewart Burton of Jamestown.

Yours truly was head planner for this event. Pitching in in a big way were helpers Pam Cobbs Springfield, Tammie Sherrill, Ruby Brown, Mildred Sherrill and Janet Mosley, all helping with food and decorating. Barbara Miller baked one of her special cakes for Mary’s big day! She was surprised by it all and very pleased seeing all of her family and friends.

Her daughter from Memphis, Mable Burton Jefferson, and her family, Ronny Burton, her oldest son from Jamestown, along with her sister, Deann Joyner, brothers Donald (Pinkie) Stewart of Covington and nephews, Jeril and Jeffery Stewart, and their sister Teresa Stewart, also from Covington.

Special guests were her club members from the Jolly Corteria Club, brother-in-law from Covington, Rudolph Boykins, and family and a niece and nephew from Texas.

Other birthdays this month are JaCinta Jones on the 22nd, Aziah Sherfield on the 26th, Devin Brown on the 18th, Mary Burton on the 8th, Rev. Romel Andrews on the 4th and Wyatt Burton on the 25th.

The Jolly Corteria Club meeting is at 2 p.m. in  the home of Mildred Sherrill of Covington. The ladies will travel to Dyersburg on the 25th for an outing.

On the prayer and sick list are Judy Sherfield, Rudolph Boykins, Pink Nathaniel Sherrill, Ruth Alston, Eugene Baker, Mary Ballard, Fletcher Dickerson Sr. and all of my readers—especially for Doris King!

That is all for now; more news next week. We are also praying for my out-of-town Milwaukee reader, Rhonda Gail Heaston McLin and family!

Remember-- “If you are willing to love, you’ll be willing to accept it’s arrival.

Until next time.
