Phil Ramsey

This week Phil Ramsey has eaten a lot of bubbles.

It's the week he and his father, Richard, are taking pictures for the Children's Classic, an annual event which raises money for the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

After more than 500 children have posed for photos, parents and grandparents start asking: When does the Children's Classic magazine come out?

"This is our most sought-after publication every year and we start getting calls about it in March," said Leader publisher Rochelle Stidham. "It comes out the last Thursday of April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Month, so this year it will publish on April 25."

Why is the Children's Classic a big deal?

For nearly three decades, the Ramseys have conducted the annual fundraiser. The $20 session fee is donated to the center and more than $300,000 has been raised since its inception.

The photos are published in the annual Children's Classic magazine which frequently wins Best Special Section in the Tennessee Press Association Ads/Circulation Awards. Last year it won Best in Show, meaning it was named the best special publication in the entire state.

How can I get a copy or 20?

If you're a subscriber, a copy of the magazine will arrive inside your April 25 paper. If you're not, or if you need extra copies, magazines can be purchased for $3 each at our office.

New this year, from April 1-21 The Leader will offer preorders on the magazine for the additional cost of shipping. The magazines will be shipped from Covington on April 25.

How can I advertise?

Hundreds of copies of the magazines are bought each year and it is also one of the best publications for advertisers whose target markets are families, parents and grandparents. If you're interested in pricing, please contact 901-476-7116.
