On Dec. 1 the Munford High School choir program had thirty students audition for Tennessee All-State Honor Choir, the most in program history.

Of those 30 students, nine were chosen to the All-State Choir as a full participant and eight were selected as an All-State alternate for a total of 17 students.

This number is the most All-State musicians ever selected from Munford High School and the most from Tipton County in the past decade. This was also one of the highest numbers of students selected in Tennessee.

Students selected as an All-State Chorus member were Hanna Twisdale, Mckenzie Bell, Amy Sanders, Laura Choate, Ethan Smith, Hunter Smith, Jonathan Ervin, Jadan Legget and Tristan Lane. Students selected as an All-State alternate were Kori Pilgrim, Tori Matilla, Luke Wheat, Jackson Gaither, Dylan Griffin, Sam Green Chase Millican and Joseph Barnes.

"I could not be prouder of our students and their strong start to the school year," MHS choir director Douglas Young said. "They have worked extremely hard and are deserving of all the accolades they are receiving. This is a great start to the year for the choir program and they hope to continue that success when they compete in Orlando in March against choirs from all across the nation at Festival Disney."
