It’s the gloomiest Sunday afternoon! In the high 50s and off-and-on rain. We got almost three inches Thursday, and after rain today and tomorrow, rain again Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! Ugh!

Which leads me to this week’s farm report: Another week out of the field but we got some soybeans cut three days last week. Pray for dry weather!

I’m glad the election will be over Tuesday – tired of political ads on TV!

I went back to Dr. Hutchison Tuesday and got released. Heel spur gone! Yay!

On our prayer list at the Covington Church of Christ are Beverly Russell, recovering from hip surgery; David Higgins, surgery Tuesday; Larry Whaley II, in the hospital; Houston Hall and so many friends and relatives of our members, and all of our servicemen and women.

Congratulations to Phillip Scrip on his retirement!

Their monthly potluck meal will be on Sunday, Nov. 18. The men of the church will provide turkey, dressing, gravy, and ham. Please bring vegetables, salads, bread, and desserts to complete the meal.

Next Sunday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day. We will honor all of our active duty servicemen and women and our veterans. If you would like to honor a family member who is in one of these categories, please contact Marion Davis.

This week’s Farmer’s Almanac quote (actually for Nov. 5): “On this day in 1928 Walt Disney created a cartoon mouse named Mortimer. His wife, Lillian, suggested renaming the character Mickey,”

And the rest is history!

“Thanks for Reading” this week goes to Carolyn Morrison, Robert Wright and Barbara Casar! Sa-lute!

And to all our veterans – Saaaaa-lute!!!

Enjoy the fall colors! Two weeks till Thanksgiving!

Until next week . . .
