On Saturday, June 29, the Historic Ruffin Theatre in Covington will be magically transformed into “The Great White Way” as The Tipton Arts Council presents its 3rd Annual Broadway Comes to the Ruffin Show.
It promises to be a delightful evening of entertainment filled with some of Broadway’s favorite tunes.
The musical review will feature 25 performers singing songs from 22 different Broadway musicals. Altogether, the shows represented in this production have won a grand total of 80 Tony awards.
The Tipton Arts Council has put together an amazingly talented group of performers for this presentation.
Performers from all over West Tennessee will be participating in this Broadway review.
There will be several familiar faces you’ll recognize from past Ruffin Theater productions but there will also be several new faces and voices who will be making their Ruffin Theater debut.
“Broadway Comes to the Ruffin” will span several decades of musical theatre and will highlight some of some of Broadway’s biggest blockbusters such as “Les Miserables,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Wicked,” “Waitress,” “Hamilton,” “Chicago,” “Funny Girl,” “Kiss Me Kate” and more.
The show will also include a performance by the cast of the Tipton Arts Council’s upcoming production of the “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” which will be presented on July 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. and July 14 and 21 at 2 p.m. The finale to the show promises to be memorable as all of the performers will gather on stage to sing a company encore from “Mamma Mia!”
Tickets for this Broadway extravaganza are only $10 each and the Ruffin box office will open at 6 p.m. this Saturday night.
The Ruffin Theater is located at 113 W. Pleasant in Covington.
