It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. We ended up with 6.2 inches of rain for the month of September. Pray we don’t get any this week! It was cloudy all last week till the sun finally came out at 2 p.m. I wrote it down on the calendar, it was so newsworthy!
This week’s Farm Report: Yep, we need to get through with this corn before soybeans are ready. We don’t need any rain this week! A lot of cotton has been defoliated and it just beautiful – love cotton fields!
I took advantage of the cool weather last week and made a half batch of chicken tortilla soup, that James and I took care of in two meals; it’s my favorite soup! I celebrated my birthday Friday with Clint and family and Elizabeth and family and Jeff Hayden. We had pizza, cheesy bread, wings and strawberry cake! Great party – Elizabeth made all my gifts from them and I got a very appropriate door mat from Courtney that says, “Please Hide Packages From My Husband”! Love it – it’s in the carport!
Lyla and the Covington Flames played in the Atoka Tournament yesterday to benefit Coach Bobby Owen, who has cancer. They won all five games and the championship! I saw two of the games, one with James! Please keep Bobby in your prayers.
On our prayer list this week at the Covington Church of Christ are Joyce Whaley, Tess Mosley, Jimmy Weir, Paula McLean, LaVerne Baxter, Jimmy Coats, Houston Hall and so many friends and relatives of our members and all of our servicemen and women.
The annual clothing giveaway will be on Oct. 13 – free clothes! And items for West Tennessee Children’s Home are due by the 16th – list in the foyer.

This week’s Farmer’s Almanac Quote: “For a sore throat, drink warm water with a tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey stirred in.”
Tomorrow is October! Yay!
