Greetings. I hope all of you made it through the first week of returning to school. At least we did not get rained on, only brief showers here and there. Now for the news.

On Sunday morning at God’s Grace Gospel Church in Jamestown there was a Baptizing service in the a.m. hour. Two candidates are now on their Christian journeys: Michael Smith and LaMarion Sherrill of Covington, sons of Nikki Sherrill and grandsons of Minister Willie Farrow (Gloria). Pastor Pearl O. Andrews performed the rites. Congratulations young men. You’ve chosen the right path for your lives.

The Men’s and Women’s Conference will be held Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at GGG Church. The guest speaker will be Pastor Fred Bailey of Jones Grove MBC in Atoka. The theme is “The Whole Armor of God,” taken from Ephesians.

Pastor Kevin King Jr. of New Hope MB Church in Atoka, Pastor Shelia Bryant of Paradise Church in Covington, Minister Romel Andrews Elam of Ripley, Minister Sandra Estes-Simmons of Atoka, Pastor Collin Heaston of Global MBC in Memphis and Elder Cecelia Collins of Abundant Grace Church will be panel speakers. A light lunch will be served and the public is invited.

On Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. there will be an anniversary celebration at North Star in Memphis for Pastor Steven Miller Sr. and first lady Dorothy McGarity Miller. The special speaker will be Pastor Pearl O. Andrews of GGG Church. Dinner will be served. Pastor Miller is originally from Jamestown.

Happy birthday to Carl Burton Sr. on the ninth. Printon and Princess are also turning one.

On our prayer and sick list are Ruth Alston, Connie Brown, Christine Armstrong, Julie Cook Alston, Lela Cook Mason, Jessie Lawson, Mary Burton, Mary Ballard, Doris DeBerry, Cortez Lee, Fletcher and Nadine Dickerson Sr., Rudolph Boykins, Marjorie Griffins, Juanita Ford, Ja Nae Burton and family, Saron Hale, Terrance “T” Sherrill, Theron Alston, Timothy E. Burton and family, Rev. and Mrs. W.E. Gatlin, Niki Sherrill, Robin Sherrill, Judy Sherfield, David Sneed, Carl Gaskins and family, Jeff Mosley Sr. and Rhonda Gail Heaston-McLin and family.

Our Sunday morning, Aug. 26, Minister Willie C. Farrow of Covington will be bringing us his first sermon at God’s Grace Gospel Church, where he is a member under the leadership of his pastor, Pearl O. Andrews. He’s the husband of Sis Gloria Sherrill Farrow, also of Covington. Keep them and their families in our prayers.

This is all for this week. Digging is one way to get out of a hole. Another way, try not to fall in.

Until next time …
