The Lady Cardinals picked up a pair of big District 13-AAA wins last Thursday at home in a doubleheader against Hardin County.
In the first game, Brighton (9-7-1 overall, 2-1 district) scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to win 9-4.
Seeley Layne went all eight innings, striking out four and allowing eight hits.
She was also 3 for 4 at the plate with four RBIs and hit a two-run homer in the first inning.
Alex Griffin and Raygan Huffman each had two hits for Brighton and Marissa Moss drove in two.
Brighton pulled out a 5-4 win in game two. Becky Judy went seven innings for the win. She struck out two and allowed six hits hits and no walks.
Layne had an RBI double and Lauren Kinney drove in one run.

• Brighton defeated Horn Lake 2-1 on Friday in the Hunter Morris Tournament in Southaven, Miss.
The Lady Cardinals had just three singles – one each from Moss, Kinney and Maddy Cox – in the victory. Layne struck out five over five innings to earn the win.
• South Panola beat Brighton 3-0 Friday in game two of the tournament.
Singles from Ali Christmas and Huffman accounted for Brighton's only two hits. Judy struck out four over five innings, but took the loss.
• Saturday's tournament game against South Pontotoc ended in a 6-6 tie.
Kinney, Cox and Layne each had two hits and an RBI for Brighton. Kristen Walker and Griffin eacdh drove in a run. Layne struck out four and allowed 12 hits over five innings.
• Arlington defeated Brighton 12-1 Saturday in the final game of the tournament. Griffin had Brighton's only hit.
