I pray that everyone who’s been under or is still under all of this ice endures. As for me, I am not an ice driver, so when told to stay home, I always obey Channel 3 and Todd Demers.
Our community has been saddened once again. Three of our beloved residents and family members have passed away in the last couple of days. Ellouise Diggs Vaughn (my godmother), Pastor Sherman P. Cole (pastor, Bright Hill) and Jennie Stewart (Bright Hill’s oldest member, 94 years). Our lives were made richer because of how they impacted each one of us. We’d like to thank all of the mortuary staffs in their final preparations of our loved ones, Barlow’s, Jefferson’s and Harold Ford, along with all of those loving hands who took care of them during their illnesses. Special thanks to Pastor T.J. Lewis and Global Ministries, Pastor Posie Heaston and to pastors Preston and Reginia Jefferson for a lovely service for my godmother, Ellouise Vaughn.
Due to bad weather, Bright Hill will resume missionary meetings at a later date. Teacher Rev. Pearl Andrews encourages us to read our Bibles daily, for our spiritual growth.
Bright Hill’s food ministry is busy getting ready to give out Christmas baskets. Carolyn Smith is in charge.
All activities were cancelled at St. Paul Chapel M.B. Church, due to the weather. Everything will resume as soon as the weather lets up.
St. Paul’s chair lady for an upcoming event, “Keeping Feet Comfortable,”Tena Mebane, requests all members purchase three pairs of white socks, sized children and up for the morning service on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. During the service, socks will be passed out. Be sure to purchase your socks, and if the Lord’s done blessed, go ahead and pick up several packages.
Our prayers are with the family of Eva Lois Smith, whose nephew passed away suddenly last week, funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. She’s the owner of the Millington Funeral Home.
