Clayton Bank and Trust is 47th in the nation and first in Tennessee, according to a recent SNL Financial report that ranked the top 100 best performing community banks.
"This exciting news recognizes the efforts of a dedicated team of outstanding professionals who successfully navigated the turbulent and challenging financial events of the last decade," said Travis Edmondson, chief executive officer of Clayton Bank and Trust.
President Kevin Kimzey added, "By recognizing the recession early, the team focused on supporting the bank's premier list of seasoned clients which includes most sectors of retail, manufacturing and distribution and consumer banking customers. This partnership between the clients and the bank facilitated the achievement of desired results while minimizing the effect of the most pronounced risk factors banks, businesses and individuals have encountered in the last 75 years."
"I could not be more proud of the commitment and dedication exemplified by the management team," said chairman Jim Clayton. "Refusing to listen to recession buzz, management and staff continued to accommodate first-time client funding needs, while encouraging existing relationships to proactively address the unique challenges faced all through the period. As a result, the bank and our clients are positioned for predictable and profitable growth. "
