Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington has a new administrator and CEO, the organization announced last week.
Sam Lynd, who worked most recently at Northeast Arkansas Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, started at the hospital here on Monday.
"It's been a whirlwind," said Lynd, who has been holding staff meetings and getting organized this week. "My hopes are that in this role I can continue to help this hospital provide the services that we provide. We want to help the people and their families who live right here in Tipton County. First and foremost, that's our focus."
Lynd, a Memphis native, joined Baptist Memorial Health Care as a Frank S. Groner administrative fellow in 2011. He then served as an assistant administrator at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County and NEA Baptist Hospital.
“Sam demonstrates strong leadership and team-building skills to bring to a hospital,” said Zach Chandler, vice-president and metro market leader of Baptist Memorial Health Care. “His previous positions have prepared him well to oversee and manage Baptist Tipton to meet the needs of our patients.”
Lynd holds a Master of Science in health administration and an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as a Bachelor of Science in health care management from the University of Alabama.
"People in this county are proud of where they live," Lynd said. "We want to continue the great care that they have."
Baptist Tipton is an award-winning 100-bed hospital that offers inpatient and outpatient care with multi-specialty services, a surgery center, diagnostics, sleep lab and emergency department.
