I hope your weekend was a great one. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to get in all my plans, but I did, praise the Lord.
Working on my 50th high school reunion with our committee members is so much fun. Of course, it won’t take place until September 2014, but each detail must be perfect, at least we think so, mainly because it’s important to stay connected throughout life with those you love and are closest to you.
Two hours prior to the reunion meeting, I attended the WIN club (the widows group). We are so blessed to continue having new members each meeting. If you are a widow, please come join us. The next meeting will be at noon, Dec. 21, at Atoka Baptist Church and finger food and entertainment will be provided. For more information, contact Ms. Fay Kitchens, 837-8883. I hope to see you there.
I’d like to speak to the youth who are old enough to vote: please pay close attention to the present state of the country and events that are changing weekly, which will affect the your life and that of your children. I know you’re busy, especially at this period of your life, but not voting is placing your future in someone else’s hands. Thank you in advance, for paying closer attention. And get involved, please.
Sharon Presbyterian Church
Rev. Charles Todd welcomes all to Sharon ARP. Worship is at 9 a.m. We are always thankful for our friends from Dunlap Retirement Center who are able to attend. Please continue to remember all on the prayer list. This past Friday, the 15th, was the birthday of my late husband, Charlie Click. He would have been 70. Please keep his daughter, Laura Quinn, her family and myself, as well as his church family in your prayers. Thanks!
Salem Presbyterian Church
Worship is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning, with Rev. Charles Todd officiating. All ladies are invited to a bridal shower for Erin Fitzsimmons this Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Erin is the bride-elect of Matt Patton. Next Sunday, a special offering will be received for the following causes: the American Bible Society, ONA, Erskin Seminary and the Christmas Benevolent Fund. The Thanksgiving service will be next Sunday night, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m, with covered dish supper beginning at 5:30 p.m. Happy birthdays this week to Juanita Hern and Elijah Morgan. I hope it’s the greatest!
In closing, Mt. Carmel-Clopton correspondent Elaine Watkins will continue to cover the Covington Church of Christ news. She does a great job and always has.
I do hope your Thanksgiving holiday will be happy, including safe travels.
I will take a moment to wish a very good friend, Mr. Bill Wallace, a very happy birthday. Mr. Bill’s son, Mr. Paul Wallace, took us for a ride in a totally restored 1965 Lincoln Continental. It was great, Paul, thanks!
Have a blessed week, everyone.
